Immunization and Vaccination

What happens at your visit

Most vaccines do not need an appointment. You can walk in, or book ahead if you prefer a set time. Before any vaccine is given, a provider reviews your immunization record and asks about allergies, current medications, pregnancy and any past reaction to a vaccine. Most people are asked to wait about 15 minutes afterwards so staff can watch for an immediate reaction. Your record is updated before you leave, and we complete any documentation your school, employer or travel program requires.

School, work and travel requirements

School and childcare. Michigan requires certain immunizations before a child can enroll. We review what your child is due for and complete the forms the school needs.

Employment and healthcare roles. Hepatitis B, MMR, varicella, Tdap and an annual influenza vaccine are commonly required for healthcare, education and food service work. TB screening can be done at the same visit.

Travel. We provide destination specific vaccines and timing advice. Some travel vaccines need several weeks before departure to give full protection, so book as early as you can.

Seasonal flu

The annual flu vaccine is available from early fall each year. A brief health check comes first to make sure the vaccine is appropriate for you, and our team can talk through simple ways to lower your risk through the season.

What to bring

• Photo identification and your insurance card
• Any immunization record you already hold
• Any form your school, employer or program needs completed

Bring whatever record you have and our providers will review your history and tell you what is recommended for your age and health. Please tell us beforehand if you have ever had a serious reaction to a vaccine, if you are pregnant, or if you have a weakened immune system, so we can plan the safest approach for you.
