What to Expect at Your Wellness Visit
Before you come in
Write down anything that has changed since last year, including new medications, new diagnoses from another provider, hospital stays, and any symptom you have been putting off mentioning. A wellness visit is the one appointment built around listening to all of it at once.
During the visit
- Your history is updated, including what has happened in your family
- Height, weight, blood pressure and other basic measurements are taken
- Your provider reviews every medication and supplement you take
- You will be asked about sleep, mood, alcohol, activity and memory
- You and your provider agree which screenings and vaccines you are due for
After the visit
You should leave knowing what was checked, what the results mean, what is being arranged next, and when to come back. If bloodwork or imaging is ordered, our team will explain how and when you will get those results.
Bring with you
Photo identification, your insurance card, your medication list, and the names of any other providers involved in your care so we can request records if needed.
A note on coverage
An annual wellness visit is often covered differently from a visit about a specific problem. If a new concern comes up during the appointment, part of the visit may be billed separately. Ask our front desk beforehand and we will tell you what to expect.
